International Terror Came to India

A certain shock value of the title dies not change its substance. As a matter of fact “the navigators” of 9/11 despite their externally apparent ideological and organizational affiliation always represented a blurred “world terror monument” rather than an organization in the traditional Islamist meaning. This movement was named Al Qaeda for visual expression rather than for indication in the “membership cards” of its supporters. Organization Al Qaeda sometimes existed in Pakistan and its leader was Ben Laden. Until recently real terrorists-extremists regardless their claimed ambitions yet were involved in solution of their local problems. In the North Caucasus they are criminal separatists with Islamic song and dance. In the Arab world they are numerous “Muslim Brothers” warning about “the upcoming final judgment” but in fact fighting against Israel and its sponsors, often former colonizers. Moreover, a majority of “nation-limited” combatants rely on differently organized combat cells. And their motivation is even farer from “the banner of the global terror international” however it is they who explode bombs and take hostages.

The tragic developments in Mumbai (former Bombay) perhaps will become “a pilot project” in creation of such “terror international”. Today it is too early to conduct a step-by-step analysis – who is who and why. At least let us recall evident facts yet their origin is in haze. In the early 80s of the XX century, two cellular terror groups Al Qaeda and Lashkar-e-Taiba operated in Pakistan sometimes complementing each other. The first one was focused on strengthening of Pashtun mujahad groups with Arab mercenaries, and used against Russians (Shuravi).

It is not impossible that excessive Western money provided to Pakistan for “liberation” of Afghanistan egged Islamabad on establishment of its own “death squadrons” for simultaneous “liberation” of the Indian State Jammu and Kashmir. At least India received a signal that if the Muslims living there are oppressed, there are forces capable of defending their adherents. By the way the name of Lashkar-e-Taiba is almost a replica of the name of Pakistan – “Land of the Pure” while Lashkar-e-Taiba is “Army of the Good”… It is still unclear: is it Lashkar-e-Taiba, its allies or “tactical” competitors that carried out the most massive (in terms of targets) terror attack on the 15-million city? Politically unknown group Dekhan Mujaheddin mentioned in the press is most probably a local clon of Lashkar. Because a majority of combat groups of Pakistani “liberators” of Jammu and Kashmir report to “the political leadership of anti-Indian operations” residing in Pakistan actually from the date of independence. Today it is known under the name of Markaz Dava ul Irshad. Formally this movement is underground, in practice – it is difficult to say.

The Indian security services proved to be highly professional that is confirmed practically daily. Corrected to the Indian-scale statistics the question is not even in estimated 170-200 victims on the area, which is twice larger than St.-Petersburg. And it is even not in the unprecedented duration of the terror “pressing” and its overwhelming yet rather ornate “aiming”: at the Hindus, Americans, Englishmen and Jews. The question is: What organization sponsored the operation, which actually crossed out a strategic intention of one of the leading states in the XXI century to complement its nuclear and post-industrial status with financially bright tourist prosperity?

And finally – food for reflection. It is accustomed to regard the Arab-Israel conflict as a symbol of the most acute standoff of civilizations. But the population of the parties in this standoff (6 million Israelis plus 7 million Jews “in dispersion” versus almost 200 million Arabs) is not comparable with the alignment of forces in and around India. 900 million Hindus oppose 500 million Muslims. In so doing 150 million Muslims reside in India with its 1-billion population (to more exact – 1.2 billion). If the Islamic “passionarity” is evident to everybody long ago, the Hindu “passionarity” has similar manifestations. Or will have them. Against such background the pretext for score-settling and creation of global terror networks may be found easily.
