For the First Time a Cyrillic Domain Name – .РФ to Appear in the Internet

On Friday the “Russian Internet Week” started work in the Expocenter in Moscow, of which the main event will become a presentation of the Cyrillic domain name — .РФ, enabling the Russian Network users to write website addresses in Russian.

Within the framework of the “Russian Internet Week” conferences and workshops on pressing topics such as the Global Network development, new projects presentations are scheduled.

Thanks to the Internet 2009 exhibition, where more than 30 organizations of the telecommunications industry will be represented, the participants of the forum will be able to get wise to the leading companies’ services and new Internet projects.

As Alexey Soldatov, Deputy Minister of Telecommunications and Mass Communications noted, opening the event, the industry “is growing and multiplying.” Soldatov addressed an appeal to the participants of the "Week" to “direct their efforts towards the future, search of new ways of the old problems overcoming.” Soldatov noted the importance of the creation of the Cyrillic domain name — .РФ. “Our official language will be more actively spread over the planet, our literature will be better read,” Deputy Minister of Telecommunications and Mass Communications believes.

Igor Schegolev, Minister of Communications and Mass Media sent his message of greetings to the participants of the event as well. The Russian Internet Week will last till October 24.
