Frontline soldiers in Ukraine: enemy seeks major war in Europe

Is Europe seeking to revisit the Great Patriotic War outcomes?

Frontline soldiers in Ukraine: enemy seeks major war in Europe Frontline soldiers in Ukraine: enemy seeks major war in Europe

Last week, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz repeatedly stated that his country and its NATO allies were lifting the ban on using Western long-range weapons to strike Russian territories. While he has yet to mention the engagement of German Taurus missiles — a topic still under debate within the German elite, — an agreement has already been signed under which Berlin will fund the production of long-range weapon systems in Ukraine. Additionally, according to Die Welt, Germany’s Treasury will finance the production of Ukrainian long-range drones.

Why is Germany, whose defeat cost the USSR 28 million lives, now positioning itself as the anti-Russian leader and coordinator of the West, already hostile toward us? How should we counter Berlin, its allies, and the Kiev regime they patronize? Frontline soldiers participating in the special military operation have shared their perspectives on what is going on.

Irgiz, Commander of a tank company with the 10th Tank Regiment:
“Russia has a kind soul. But the Kiev regime and its European handlers have long been pushing for an ultimatum: either wrap up your bloody enterprise within a week, or it will be shut down along with you.

“Speaking for my branch of the military, I’ve seen captured Bradleys and German Leopards. They look impressive — I won’t break down their technical specs in detail; you’d need to drive one and fire it to get a feel for the machine. But overall, our tanks are no worse, and in my opinion, even better. We have the means to counter Western hardware and take it out, whether with armor-piercing or shaped-charge shells. As our Supreme Commander-in-Chief said: ‘The enemy has Leopards, French wheeled armor, American armored vehicles — they’ve got it all. And they burn like a dream.’ The same principle applies here: if the military-political leadership decides, we can respond to any type of weapon the enemy deploys.”

Kok, tank gunner-operator with the 10th Tank Regiment: “I’m no politician, so I can’t fully dissect our methods for countering Germany and the West. But as a patriot, a citizen, and someone with common sense, I’ll say this: Germany failed to defeat us on its own before, and now it’s trying to do it again by proxy. Back then and today, its guilt in the bloodshed is undeniable.

“We’re now engaged in a special military operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine. The enemy is pushing for a major European war, which would lead not to partial but full mobilization in Russia. You don’t need to be a great analyst — or a prophet — to foresee the outcome. Just look at history, specifically the Great Patriotic War.”

Lev, operations officer with the BARS-Kursk volunteer brigade: “Germany’s current leadership sees Russia as a geopolitical adversary and has grown increasingly hostile, especially since Crimea’s reunification with Russia. German elites openly support Ukraine, partly because they want access to Ukrainian natural resources. You could even say there’s a revanchist sentiment, though this isn’t just a German phenomenon — it’s a pan-European one. Every century, the West tries to conquer Russia. Napoleon, then Hitler, tried to bring us "democracy" and "universal values" at gunpoint. And each time, they lost. But they never learn. It’s like some masochistic tradition — Europe keeps sliding into degeneracy, and Russophobia is just another twisted form of self-gratification. That’s why, every hundred years, we have to march into their capitals and force peace upon them.

“As for long-range weapons, we should have put Germany in its place when it was sending helmets and first-aid kits to the AFU. Then came small arms, MG machine guns ("Hitler’s buzzsaw"), NATO-caliber rifles, grenades, artillery systems, Marder IFVs, and Leopard tanks. Now it’s Taurus. What’s next? Nuclear warheads? That’s where this all is headed.

“We must respond — diplomatically, economically (by cutting cooperation). German weapons should be annihilated the very moment they enter Ukraine. Every facility linked to Western arms shipments to the Kiev regime, both state and commercial, must be destroyed. Those supplying weapons to the AFU are our enemies and complicit in the deaths of our soldiers. We have the moral and political right to act.

“Impunity will only embolden them.

“I feel sorry for the German people, who have such an elusive memory. They’ve forgotten how the two world wars they started ended. And lately, they’ve had terrible luck with chancellors — Merkel, obsessed with globalization; Scholz, a wooden puppet who values US interests over his own country’s; and now Merz, a comical figure deluded by dreams of a new European Reich.”

Kurily, special military operation veteran, EW and UAV Operator, participant in the liberation of Maryinka (2022–2023): “Sending Taurus missiles to the Kiev regime won’t change anything. These are subsonic, low-altitude missiles, nearly identical to Storm Shadows, which our air defenses have already learned to counter. Yes, a massive strike with missiles, drones, and decoys could cause damage, but the cost-to-effect ratio would be absurd.

The enemy can’t turn the tide now — something Taurus might have achieved in the special military operation’s first year. At this point, it’s like offering a band-aid to a corpse. Everyone knows it, so there’s no need to take this as a serious provocation. It’s just desperate attempts to prop up the AFU’s collapsing front.

“Why are the Germans acting so brazenly? Because the EU has found itself in a desperate need of a war with Russia. Contrary to some opinions, the US might prefer to delay such a conflict, but Europeans do urgently need it to solve their mounting socio-economic and political problems. Whether indirectly (through Ukrainian proxies) or directly is secondary. For now, they’re content with fighting in Ukraine. Once that ends, they’ll find new flashpoints. They need to sustain militarization and a state of cold, ‘warm,’ or hot war with Russia to justify their internal failures. That’s been my view since the day the special military operation began. Europe has been marching towards a major war, regardless of our wishes. The economy, psychology, and Europe’s own history all point to it.

“Russia may respond in several ways. First, by methodically grinding down Ukraine’s manpower and advancing deeper into its territory. What terrifies Europe most is our refusal to react to their provocations, our unshaken resolve — we press forward like a steamroller, eroding the credibility of European elites. This is the most basic response.

“Second, we shouldn’t hesitate to influence internal affairs in EU and NATO countries, just as they meddle in ours. A more drastic measure would be striking arms supply routes to Ukraine. The final step: hitting storage facilities on NATO soil.

“But such actions are fraught with major escalation — exactly what our enemy wants. A strike on Berlin with an Oreshnik missile would suit Europe just fine. So, our task is to avoid crossing red lines and giving the EU pretexts to accuse us of aggression, rally global allies, isolate us, and justify their own moves. That’s not in our interest. Our focus must remain on Ukraine — destroying its manpower, personnel, and infrastructure, and preventing Western troops or arms production from taking root there.

“We must resist Western deception and pressure for a peace deal on their terms. Fortunately, our military-political leadership has made it clear we won’t fall for it. The inevitability of our army’s victory is what frightens Berlin, Paris, and the rest most. We must show them: if they want war with us, the Russians will come — but it is them who would be weeping bitter tears. In Ukraine, Russia’s victory is unavoidable, no matter how hard they seek to delay it. And the same fate awaits anyone who dares to intervene explicitly.”

Bukvar, radiotelephone operator, communications platoon, 1st battalion, 110th Separate Rifle Regiment: “The restrictions were already lifted long ago. Storm Shadows and ATACMS have already been used. Taurus is just yet another thing. One more or one less won’t make a difference.

“I operate on the principle that what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. If Germany has so many missiles to spare, it’ll only fuel our national unity, sharpen public awareness of the West’s threat, and increase support for the front. War is terrible, but in terms of real damage, Storm Shadows and ATACMS haven’t critically harmed Russia’s military power.

“Overall, I think the West’s escalation, especially Germany’s, is more about media hype than material impact. They’ve already given Ukraine so much weaponry that a bit more or less, slightly stronger or weaker, doesn’t matter. They’d probably love to send deadlier arms in bulk, but their own stockpiles are running low. The media makes it sound scarier than it is — just slightly more intimidating than existing weapons. Strikes on Russia with Western missiles look feeble as compared to our hits on Ukrainian infrastructure and military targets. So, we’ll keep doing what we have been on the battlefield. Maybe, as a precaution, we are going to remind them of the Oreshnik once or twice.

“If Germany funds drone production, it’ll be unpleasant — like any weapons in enemy hands — but it won’t change much. The AFU will keep using drones for what’s essentially terrorism, with little military value but high propaganda returns.”

Kupol, deputy company commander, 1st battalion, 110th Separate Rifle Regiment: “To counter the Kiev regime and its Western partners’ escalation, we must respond with even greater coordination, combat efficiency, unity between front and rear, and solidarity between army and society — all the factors that lead to our Victory.

“And Victory will come. But to achieve it, we must instill patriotism in the youth, teach them to love their homeland and their neighbors, care for the older generation, and uphold the right values and life principles. We must cleanse the liberal-Western rot spread by the "fifth column" and Western influence centers — direct agents of the very countries now threatening us with weapons funneled into Ukraine.”

Uncle Vanya, Assault Company Commander with the 68th Tank Regiment: “On the battlefield, we see increased Western support for the AFU. The biggest factor is the rapid drone development. Most technologies opposing us and hindering our advances come from Europe — and the US drones are the biggest obstacle for our assault groups. But Victory will still be ours. Berlin thinks it’ll win. But it won’t. We will!”
