There will be no war in Europe or the Pacific. China will grow stronger. NATO will arrive at some arrangement with Vladimir Putin over Ukraine. The internationalists will not be pleased.
In Britain, Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Tory government will blunder forward and accomplish nothing.
The populist right, led by Marie Le Pen and upstart Eric Zemmour, will make gains in the French presidential election. But incumbent Emmanuel Macron will win. Authorities will be unable to agree on a plan to rebuild the fire ravaged Notre Dame Cathedral.
There will be no war in the Middle East. Mossad will continue to sabotage Iran’s nuclear program and the IDF will fly dozens of interdiction missions in Syria and Lebanon. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s shaky coalition will remain shaky but hold together to keep Benjamin Netanyahu out of office.
In the United States, Inflation and supply chain problems will continue to wrack the American economy. The Federal Reserve will raise interest rates, exasperating America’s economic problems. The price of everything will rise and wages will not keep up.
America’s cultural chasm will grow. Blue states will institute ‘soft’ lockdowns as the Omicron Covid variant spreads. Red states will remain open. California, New York, and Illinois will see hundreds of thousands people flee for the south and west. Top destinations will remain Texas and Florida.
There will be further clashes in education as parents fight Critical Race Theory and school closures. Schools in most major American cities will go virtual.
The Supreme Court will not overturn Roe vs Wade.
President Biden’s approval rating (as of this writing standing at 42.3 percent in the Real Clear Politics poll of polls) will rebound, but peak at 45 percent or so. Biden will have no poll floor, and many polls will (and already do) show his approval in the mid-30s. Biden’s handlers will have absolutely no idea how to raise his poll numbers.
The Democrats will pass some version of their $1.75 trillion Build Back Better bill. The Biden Administration will claim a great victory, but Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and the rest of the Squad will be unhappy. The left will call for AOC to challenge fellow New Yorker Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in the Democrat Senate primary. AOC will wisely decline. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts) will take to the airwaves to slam the BBB bill in an effort to position herself as the Progressive frontrunner in 2024. Senator Joe Manchin (D, West Virginia) will declare himself an independent but continue caucusing with the Democrats.
California Governor Gavin Newsome will announce he’s not running for re-election in 2022. Some (including enthusiasts of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg) will suggest that Vice President Kamala Harris return to California to run for governor.
A GOP red wave will win them the House, Senate, and several governorships. The wave will be somewhat less powerful than those that swept the GOP into power in 1994 and 2010, due to jerrymandering, the flight of Republicans from blue states, and a lack of good candidates in a few senate races. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy will announce several pending investigations into the Biden Administration. Dozens of Republican House members will call for impeachment proceedings in 2023.
The Republican civil war will continue, with the Trumpian right vanquishing the Establishment. Anti-Trump Representatives Liz Cheney (R, Wyoming) and Adam Kinzinger (R, Michigan) will find jobs on CNN or MSNBC. There will be a growing movement within the populist right to sideline Donald Trump in favor of someone else. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will easily win reelection. Democrat Stacey Abrams, who lost the Georgia gubernatorial election by about 55,000 votes in 2018, will benefit from Georgia GOP chaos and win a close race. Hillary Clinton’s cronies will spread Hillary 2024 rumors.
The Democrat Party will hemorrhage Hispanic voters over a bad economy and resentment of Woke politics as represented by the introduction by white liberals of the non-word ‘Latinx’.
In his first year, New York Mayor Eric Adams will dramatically reduce the cities’ crime rate. Critics will compare him to former Mayor Rudi Giuliani and New Yorkers will love him for it.
New York Attorney General Letitia James (who decided not to run for governor in 2022) will indict Donald Trump for something. Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s January 6th Commission will be locked in legal battles with former Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and former Trump advisor Steve Bannon among others. The legal fight will only make Bannon stronger. Dozens of January 6th protestors will take plea deals or be convicted, non for sedition or insurrection.
Political trouble will disrupt the Beijing Olympic Games and many athletes won’t be able to compete because of positive Covid tests. NBC Sport’s Bob Costas will get in trouble for asking difficult questions and saying controversial things about the games and China. The Kansas City Chiefs will go to the Super Bowl for the third year in a row and defeat the Dallas Cowboys. Woke Super Bowl commercials will adversely affect sales.
