Politico writes that Americans with combat training expertise are engaged in military operations in Ukraine, along with thousands of other foreign mercenaries. According to the outlet, one of the US groups operating there is Task Force Yankee group led by Harrison Josefowitz, a Chicago police officer and army veteran.
Josefowitz told Politico his group has over 190 volunteers, and there are multiple other foreign organizations fighting in Ukraine. His group alone has placed scores of volunteers in positions all over the country, with about 40 of those being combat jobs. According to Josefowitz, warfare mainly involves those having combat expertise.
“Russia’s invasion has given Ukraine’s embassy in Washington the task of fielding inquiries from thousands of Americans who want to help in the fight”, Politico notes, and Kiev is playing cards well to recruit volunteers from among foreign citizens. In a word, victims from among the Ukrainian servicemen turned into "cannon fodder" are apparently not enough for Washington, so it offers a chance to the Kiev regime to recruit Americans for countering the Russian army.
Notably, the fate of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine is unenviable, as the destruction of their training ground outside Lvov has shown, discouraging many foreigners from heading to Ukraine and "fighting for democracy". By the way, most recently CNN reported the first Ukraine death of an American citizen, 22-year-old former US Marine Willy Joseph Cancel.
The White House does not care much about the death of a former Marine, as the Joe Biden administration is ready to keep rendering every assistance to the Kiev regime in its fight against Russia. Suffice it to say that the United States has sent 80% of the 90 howitzers planned for delivery to Ukraine and trained the first group of Ukrainian soldiers to operate them. In parallel with handing advanced arms over to Kiev as part of the previously approved supplies the US Congress is considering a bill to allocate an additional $33 billion to Ukraine as requested by President Biden. This will be the largest military aid package to a foreign state in US history to become almost twice the total amount of military equipment the United States sent to Afghanistan from 2005 to 2021 worth $18.6 billion.
Washington feels free to call Russia’s military defeat the purpose of pumping weapons into Ukraine. Moscow knows it either. In a recent interview with the Italian Mediaset TV company, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the recent moves by the US administration along the Ukrainian track an attempt to accomplish the long-standing project of turning Ukraine into an anti-Russia. «We also see that the US currently wants to accomplish its ‘anti-Russia’ project as Russian President Vladimir Putin put it. Such statements as ‘Russia should be defeated’, ‘we should beat Russia’, ‘Ukraine should win’, ‘Russia should lose’ are now heard",» the Foreign Minister said.
However, as Foreign Policy magazine warns, the pumping of weapons and military equipment into Ukraine may entail conflict escalation to a nuclear conflict between the West and Russia. The American broadsheet seems not all that far out, since the Russian Armed Forces are now actually fighting not against the Ukrainian armed forces, but against US-led NATO. This explains the collective West’s recent amplified supplies of various kinds of armaments.
According to the Pentagon, May 1 alone saw the United States send 14 aircraft loaded with military assistance to Ukraine. As part of the previously approved military aid packages, Kiev has got almost all the radar stations allocated to it, and over five thousand Javelin anti-tank missiles. The Pentagon's statement on the ongoing military assistance to Ukraine came after last week’s visit to Kiev by a group of US lawmakers headed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Apparently, the White House is not alarmed by the fact that billions of American taxpayer dollars may be simply cast to the wind. This is likely to happen after the conference statement by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu of May 4. He particularly said that any NATO vehicle coming to Ukraine with weapons or equipment for Ukrainian forces will be considered a legitimate target for destruction.
The Russian minister, as you know, comes across as who means what he says, and the facts confirm this. Thus, strikes with high-precision weapons are inflicted precisely on warehouses and parking shelters, where weapons for the Ukrainian armed forces come from Western countries. Besides, the Russian military started destroying Ukraine’s railway transport infrastructure in areas involved in the delivery of armored vehicles, weapons and ammunition to Donbass.
So, we can say with a certain amount of confidence that US and NATO weapons are unlikely to reach the soldiers of Ukraine and foreign mercenaries – those will be either destroyed or came into the possession of LDPR servicemen.
