The United States has been inexorably rushing towards its presidential election set for November 5. Today, no one can safely forecast the United States’ condition when approaching the event, or what happens right after it, or who represents the Republican and Democratic parties after all.
This is especially true for the Democrats. Their key concern and challenge has been the incumbent President Biden’s mental and physical condition. But the worst thing may occur even before November, namely, on June 27 this year, the day Biden and Trump are scheduled to hold their first TV debates on CNN. Along with the election itself, the upcoming show seems a kind of inevitable tragedy to the Democrats for this reason.
Biden is completely dysfunctional, and this reveals itself nearly every time the US President gets caught in the lens of TV cameras. During celebrations of the 80th Allied landings in Normandy anniversary, he demonstrated a truly awkward conduct. At the G7 summit in Italy, Biden got totally disconnected from reality and wandered around with no apparent purpose or direction. At a recent White House party, he looked like a zombie among the dancers. And the campaign fundraising gala concert saw him fall asleep in public, with Barack Obama forced to arm the national leader off the stage.
"One clear thing is that if Biden concedes to Trump in the first televised debate, ... the moment for intervention may be missed. Four Democratic Party grandees — Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi — may offer Biden to limit himself to a single term in office to pave the way [for another candidate]," Germany’s Bild writes. The outlet suspects a conspiracy brewing among the Dem leadership against Biden, who is allegedly being persuaded to quit the race. This is superimposed by relentless rumors that Barack Obama has been tooth and nail pushing his wife Michelle to become the Democrats’ presidential hopeful. Although not everything is clear here either.
America has been standing a tiptoe, anticipating what the Democrats are going to do before the June 27TV debate? Letting Biden step in the "ring" is a bad idea because Trump will clock him clean at first dash. Refusal to appear at the venue is not an option either, being equivalent to defeat.
According to a survey by JL Partners, half of American voters believe that during the decisive presidential debate, President Biden will "traditionally forget where he is," with over a third expecting him to "leave the stage" altogether. "A staggering 70% expect the gaffe-prone 81-year-old to mess up his words during the TV debates — while 40% think the oldest-ever president is so frail, he’ll struggle to even get to his feet," the New York Post comments on survey results. Other polls have demonstrated all but the same indicators. Remarkable data obtained during a joint survey by National Public Radio, America’s public broadcaster PBS, and Marist Poll has put Trump ahead of Biden by seven p/p (48 percent vs. 41 percent) even among the so-called "double haters" — voters unsatisfied with both candidates.
Therefore, chances are high that the coming days may reveal to the world that Biden "voluntarily" withdrew from the race. And one has to realize that changing the Democratic candidate is only possible if Biden leaves of his own free will. If so, the party’s National Convention set for mid-August in Chicago will have to approve a new one. So, we shall be curiously waiting for either the tragicomic TV debates on June 27, or Biden's voluntary resignation.
It must be understood that Biden's mousy departure would immediately solve quite a number of related image-building issues to the Democrats. This includes legal problems bedeviling wayward presidential son Hunter Biden that may not to be limited to trials over his lying about drug abuse when buying a gun, or tax evasion.
The most important case against the Bidens, so far hushed up and not brought to the court, is about influence peddling, which yielded Joe and Hunter, along with their other relatives, millions in foreign bribes. This is not mere corruption but treason.
Moreover, the case investigated by Chairman of the House Oversight Committee James Comer is dangerous to the entire nation, not just Biden. If the abovementioned crimes are established by the court (and Comer has "dug up" a whole bunch of relevant banking documents, and other dirt), shame will fall on the entire United States. Regarding the current legal arguments against Hunter Biden, Comer has repeatedly stated that prosecutor "was only bringing the minimum possible charges to spare father and son from potentially more damaging revelations from his committee."
Perhaps that is why Joe Biden has not yet dropped out of the race. The president's tenure implies immunity from his or his son’s prosecution — through the use for administrative resources, of course. But a misfire is also feasible if meticulous James Comer and his House Oversight Committee colleagues appear really persistent.
