The Georgian expat community in Russia and Georgian population waited for this event for a long time and welcome the step of the Russian Government made to meet the Georgian people and their social and economic needs. We also welcome the talks on restoration of agricultural product shipments to Russia and expect restoration of postal and cable communications in the near future.
To our great disappointment improvement of relations between Russia and Georgia is affected by inconsistent and inadequate policy of the actual Georgian authorities, their maniac striving to be a NATO member that fails to meet interests of Georgia and its nations including Abkhazia and Southern Ossetia.
The stupid policy of the Sakashvili’s Government is leading the country to economic and spiritual collapse that will put the Georgian people on the edge of moral humiliation, degradation of Georgian mentality and loss of national identity. Only a blind man, banana-head or traitor may lead its country to the loss of its territorial integrity, and adjudge its people to beggary and humiliation. And if the Georgian government members may be referred to the first two categories, the activities of Saakashvili and his puppet Burdjanadze may be referred to the third category only.
The Georgian people understood it, and therefore today the opposition and all Georgian people demand resignation of the two top state leaders, revival of elementary democracy in the country, and establishment of a power that would be at least partially pro-Georgian. A power that would not let unleash a new civil war in its territory, stop the country of the edge of collapse and give a chance to the nation to undo a tragic damage inflicted by the anti-Georgian policy of the actual rulers.
Georgia still has a chance to achieve an agreement with its nations of Abkhazia and Southern Ossetia. Today there is no and cannot be an alternative to peaceful talks to be conducted in all formats and first of all directly. Instead of threats and provocations it is necessary to strengthen confidence and mutual respect of both parties. The people need wise and well-founded proposals on building of a new state power system and elaboration of guarantee mechanisms.
They need proposals on generation of an economically and politically attractive image of our country taking into account interests of the nations in these territories, their aspiration to friendship with Russia, trust in their guarantees, neighbourliness and strategic partnership.
This is the only way leading to restoration of the territorial integrity and statehood of Georgia, revival of the Georgian economy, intellectual and cultural development of Georgia, and growth of high self-consciousness adherent to the Georgian nation.
Feasibility of this way is still ensured by unambiguous recognition of the Georgian territorial integrity and consistent appeals to solve conflicts through negotiations of conflicting parties based on mutual interests and guarantees of peaceful co-existence.
It is notable that Russia may become a guarantor of the Georgian territorial integrity and mediator in negotiations of conflicts, it may provide assistance in further development of the country, expansion of good-neighborly relations, economic partnership, and ensuring of independence and neutrality of Georgia.
What may we get from unmotivated and extremely harmful striving of Georgia to be a NATO member?
I may soundly claim hundred times that the way to NATO is harmful to Georgia, and it is not an aspiration or desire of the Georgian people as it was alleged after the falsified election and so-called referendum. Everybody including Russia should understand that it is not a will of the Georgian people but multiplied will of Saakashvili that with all approximations reflects the opinion of only one third of electors or one million people that amounts to about 20 per cent of the entire Georgian population! And it is important that in so doing nobody respected the will of the Georgian nations in such territorial subjects of Georgia as Abkhazia and Southern Ossetia.
May we speak about the will of the people in this case? Is it possible to recognize such election and NATO referendum valid in general?
Today on the eve of the parliamentary election, Georgia should make a choice, and it is the Georgian people that can make a correct choice provided it will not let anybody kick the nation in the teeth and put the country on the edge of collapse and fatality.
Today the country needs unanimous victory of all opposition forces to liberate it from depredators.
A real force may and should emerge to relieve the country from the crisis and pursue a correct internal and external policy to solve the problems of unification of the Georgian nations, territorial integrity of Georgia, its economic, mental and social wellbeing.
Georgia needs a third force, intellectual and spiritual, unblotted with friendship with the former power. A force that will reflect true interests of its own country, a force that will be trusted by the Georgian nations, including the peoples of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, a force that will build confidential, partnership and friendly relations with the neighbors, and pursue its policy based on the interests of its people.
