The Americans have blacked Venezuela out. But it turned out that they cannot work in darkness themselves. A strange situation has come to shape in the Bolivarian Republic.
Maduro spoke about the reasons for blackout – an attack at the country's energy system came in three stages. "First there was a cyberattack at the system of the state energy company Corpoelect at the Simon Bolivar hydropower plant, as well as the system in Caracas. Then there was an electric magnetic impulse that thwarted the system restoration. And finally there were physical attacks – arsons and explosions at power plants." Pure terrorism.
Maduro directly accused the Americans. "The imperialist government of the USA ordered this attack, when understood that its attempts to damage Venezuela had been futile."
There had been no electric power in Venezuela for several days in a row and the next Washington's move was rather unexpected. American Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Washington will recall all diplomats remaining in Venezuela. And the reasoning is as follows, "This decision reflects the deteriorating situation in Venezuela as well as the conclusion that the presence of U.S. diplomatic staff at the embassy has become a constraint on U.S. policy," Pompeo said.
This decision can get various assessments ranging from a suggestion that they fled because "common Venezuelans" threatened to respond for the blackout to a suggestion that the USA is preparing an intervention and doesn't want to have their diplomats stay in Caracas.
The first suggestion is more likely to genuinely explain what is happening. The USA apparently doesn't intend to war with Venezuela. American allies in the region namely Columbia and Brazil are not eager to attack Venezuela, whereas it is quite possible that diplomats will be punished for electric terrorism.
You never know what response may be – for example what public utility facilities at the embassy will break down, maybe the sewer or maybe the water supply system, or whether the embassy's cars will explode right in the center of Caracas or not. And "people's indignation" will be called a reason for that. The Department of State understands that together with the CIA it crossed the red line here.
The Yankees are ready to abandon their puppet Guaido in this situation. However, "abandoning" clients who are no more interesting is an American style. The USA "befriended" with Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi and a large number of politicians whom it abandoned as soon as it became necessary for the Yankees. The latest example is "abandoning" the Kurds, whom the Americans promised everything, profited from the Kurdish factor and then immediately abandoned them without giving anything in return.
And Guaido will soon become yet another example. Pompeo refused to tell journalists if the Americans will help this imposter in terms of his personal security after they leave Venezuela. "And then we’ve done our best to help Juan Guaido build his team out as well by our team on the ground providing the same kind of services that we provide in every country to help other governments be successful. And we’ll continue – we’ll continue to do that as long as our team is there inside of Venezuela." Mere words. And the key thing about this is "as long", "as long as our team is there," and "as long" will be cut short within hours.
"We’re beginning to build out a coalition that will provide its resources as well, because it won’t be an America-alone proposition to restore the economy of the Venezuelan nation," Pompeo said responding to a question about the US military intervention. He swore that the US wasn't involved in the blackout, it is Venezuela's inefficient energy system that is to be blamed for it. "With respect to the power outages, those are a direct result of years and years of neglect to the Venezuelan energy system." He also made a remark full of meaning, saying that such incidents would likely to continue. It seems that the Americans found a weak chain in the cyberdefense of Venezuela's energy system and intend to cast more remote blows.
This all is very alarming. Not only for Venezuela but for a larger number of countries. The Americans tested in Venezuela a new type of state terrorism, which I called "electric terrorism." And this can be dangerous for the most developed countries whose computer networks aren't protected enough to repel attacks at critical infrastructure facilities, including in the energy sphere.
It is still well-remembered that the US together with Israel have recently showed their capabilities, infecting Iran's nuclear project with the Stuxnet virus, paralyzing its activity for some time. Now the Americans have shown the whole world that their online provocations can be even a bigger threat.
Noteworthy, the US has persisted with its hysteria over "Russia's cyberinterference into the election," but it is they who under the cover of these fake news embarked on the path of cyberinterference into the affairs of a sovereign state, whose authorities Washington dislikes. Who's next?
