Syria has suffered through 8 years of war, since the beginning of the conflict in Deraa in March 2011, where protests were used as a cover for an internationally planned, executed and funded attack on Syria for the purpose of regime change. Syria’s conflict doesn’t match the definition of civil war, because the groups on the battlefields were from the four corners of the globe. It wasn’t exactly a sectarian war either, though there were aspects of that when the Free Syrian Army chanted: “Christians to Beirut, Alawites to the grave”. The very last US backed ‘rebel’ group at al-Tanf is made up of jihadists who were formerly named Allah Akbar Brigade
Ahmed Salkini uttered words in 2010 which now appear to be prophetic of what was to come, “A combination of brutal occupation, foreign interference, and economic and intellectual stagnation has rendered the region polarized and left it a fertile ground for extremist recruitment.”
The US was the chief instigator of the US-NATO-Arab Gulf scheme to: destroy; invade; steal resources; install a puppet government. This has been done in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya, Egypt and Tunisia. The US Ambassador to Syria, Robert S. Ford, traveled to Hama in July 2011 to encourage the process.
Now that the US war on Syria has failed, officials under Pres. Obama admit they under estimated the support for the Syrian government and armed forces. They thought the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) would be divided, and the President would leave. They were banking on the fact that Syria is mainly Sunni Muslims. They ignored the fact that Syria has been for decades the only secular government in the Middle East. The Syrian culture takes pride in all their religions, and embraces their diverse heritage.
The Jewish community was once thriving, while the Christian community had 13 denominations, and their Muslim and non-Muslim neighbors lived, studied and worked side by side. The steadfast secular Sunni majority kept the country from breaking into pieces. They resisted the ‘new’ political Islam being preached by celebrity TV clerics. They held on fast to their age old core values and refused to be coached into what some experts have called a ‘death cult’.
By the end of September 2015 the SAA was in a perilous position: the enemy was gaining ground and very close to the coast. Soldiers reported the terrorists they were fighting wore Turkish Army uniforms and carried military ID. They were facing the cold hard reality that they were not just up against jihadists, but also the trained soldiers of the second largest Army in NATO.
Pres. Assad went to Moscow and met with Pres. Putin after the Russian Air Force arrived in Latakia, which changed the game. Iran and the resistance army from Lebanon were also invited to assist the SAA. The SAA now controls 80% of the Syrian territory. The Russian Air Force was an integral part in saving Syria from a US backed jihadist victory.
In the midst of conflict a mysterious group emerged from Iraq: ISIS. They gained territory, only to be defeated and scattered.
The western media played a huge role in deceiving people about the conflict. Fabricated videos were shown as proof of war crimes. The ‘last doctor’ at the ‘last hospital’ was interviewed without bothering to talk to the dozens of other doctors serving patients nearby. One man with a cell phone in England became an eye witness in Syria. A video troupe of terrorists turned actors became Hollywood stars while exploiting the suffering of children.
Hundreds of thousands of Syrians took up the offer of money, housing, and jobs offered by Germany. They paid thousands of Euros to take advantage of an offer of a lifetime. Some are returning home, while other refugees are being held hostage in camps.
After 8 years of war, Syria is left facing the 2 remaining hot-spots: the terrorist held area of Idlib and the Kurdish held area in the North East. Russia and Turkey have been working to find a solution on how to free the civilians held hostage by the Al Qaeda linked terrorists in Idlib, while also working on a peaceful agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Kurds, which would prevent an attack on them by Turkey, who considers them as terrorists.
Bullets and bombs have ravaged Deraa, Homs, East Aleppo, Reqaa, Deir Ez Zor and East Ghouta. While most of the country survived undamaged, the areas which were battle zones became ruins. Rebuilding lays ahead; however, 1153 structures have already been reconstructed, with Hama and Deir Ez Zor being among the leaders.
The UN estimated the cost at rebuilding at 388 billion dollars. Pres. Trump stated that America will not pay to rebuild Syria, because he believes the Syrian war was created by Pres. Barack Obama, who was serving the interests of a transnational financial class. States like Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey are well known to have financed the terrorists, and are liable for war reparations. Pres. Assad said the priority in rebuilding contracts will go to those countries that gave blood for Syria and fought to end terrorism.
The Syrian civil society had been sleeping prior to 2011. Traditionally they complained about things, but didn’t actively participate in solutions. One of the lasting changes which emerged from the Syrian conflict is that Syrians found their voice. They started writing on social media, organizing aid groups and actively participating in saving their way of life.
