US President Joe Biden is considering new large-scale sanctions against the Russian energy sector in his final weeks in office, TASS reported citing the Washington Post newspaper.
As the newspaper's sources indicate, such a decision would allegedly be intended to "give the new Trump team leverage in Ukraine talks." According to the sources, the sanctions will target foreign ships transporting Russian oil to non-Western countries, as well as Russian oil exporters that have not yet been included in the sanctions lists.
According to the newspaper’s sources, possible options also revoking the license that allows banks to handle transactions with Russian energy resources.
