The social network Twitter should become a fair forum for a maximum number of people with a wide range of beliefs, entrepreneur Elon Musk, who plans to acquire the Twitter company owning the network, said on Monday.
"Twitter should be as broadly inclusive as possible, serving as a fair forum for lively, even if occasionally rancorous, debate between widely divergent beliefs," he wrote on his Twitter page, TASS reports.
In April, Twitter executives announced that Musk would acquire the company for $44 billion. In May, Musk announced that he was putting his takeover of Twitter "temporarily on hold," saying that he wanted more details on how many of the social platform’s accounts were fake or spam. He said he needed to make sure that fake accounts "do indeed represent less than 5%" of Twitter’s users. No such data was provided to him, that is why in early July Musk’s lawyers notified the company that he terminated the agreement.
On October 4, Bloomberg reported that Musk decided to renew the deal to purchase Twitter at the original price. On the same day, a company’s representative confirmed receipt of a corresponding letter from Musk. According to the Washington Post, the closing date of the deal is October 28.
