A total of 43 Russian civilians, including three children, have been killed in Ukrainian strikes that targeted almost 170 buses, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik has told TASS.
"As of August 27, Ukrainian armed groups attacked 167 buses since the start of 2026. A total of 329 people were wounded, including 17 minors, while 43 were killed, among them three children," he said.
In his words, the attacks have noticeably intensified in the past three months.
"We can state that over the past three months, there has been a sharp increase specifically regarding attacks on high-capacity passenger buses. These vehicles were transporting civilians, and, of course, there were children on board," the diplomat continued.
"It can be concluded that the Ukrainian side has simply marked them as targets for its attacks or terrorist acts," he added.
According to the Russian diplomat, the armed forces of Ukraine are configuring AI in their drones to specifically choose passenger buses as their target.
"Drones, which the Ukrainian side uses for the majority of its attacks, employ AI technologies. It was noted that they are clearly configured to attack buses, among other targets. That is why casualty figures and the overall number of attacks remain so high," Miroshnik said.
