A regional police station has been blown up in the Georgian town of Gori. Five people are reported dead, many wounded.
The three-story police station building has been razed to the ground. A car parked in front of the building and loaded with explosives is believed to have caused the blast. In addition, a possibility of explosive devices set up inside the building going off has not been ruled out.
A dozen of cars parked nearby were also damaged.
Regional governor Mikhail Kareli told reporters the terror attack was most probably directed against the head of the local police.
The police and state security authorities are currently inspecting the site of the bombing. Georgian Minister of Police and Public Security Vano Merabishvili has also visited the site.
