Operatives of the criminal militia and the Prosecutor's Office of the Goudermes District in Chechnya have apprehended a man suspected of having been among Shamil Basayev's cutthroats who seized a hospital in the town of Boudennovsk of the Stavropol Territory in 1995. This information was released by the press center of the Russian Ministry of the Interior in the Northern Caucasus Region.
In the interests of the investigation, the name of the suspect has not been disclosed. In the course of preliminary questioning, the suspect testified that he had volunteered to join Basayev's gang in summer of 1995.
Complying with Basayev's criminal orders, the suspect took part in the taking of hostages in the municipal hospital and holding them for almost seven days, threatening to kill them in case of defiance. During the attack on Boudennovsk the bandits killed more than 100 people.
