Friday a Russian employee of the United Nations, Vadim Kouznetsov, was arrested by FBI agents in New York. The Manhattan Federal Court officially charged him with money laundering.
V. Kouznetsov became the second Russian UN employee arrested in the USA in a month. At the beginning of August former employee of the UN procurement service, Alexander Yakovlev, had been arrested.
A. Yakovlev had almost immediately confessed to a fraud through electronic transfer of money, criminal collusion for carrying off the fraud and money laundering. If the court fails to allay his punishment (A. Yakovlev had actively cooperated with the investigation), he may be sentenced to about 20 years in prison.
