Sunday morning unknown persons set a mosque on fire in Montbeliar in the east of France. Two Molotov cocktail bottles had been thrown into the building. No injuries were reported, and the main praying hall was not damaged.
In their commentaries the French police do not relate this incident to the recent riots of Islamist youths in Paris suburbs. At the same time, independent experts do not rule out the growth of religious and ethnic extremism in the country in the aftermath of the aggressive actions of Islamic radicals, including those directed against Christian churches, during the latest mass riots in various parts of France.
