Italy has charged Ukraine with stealing Russian gas intended for European consumers.
Italy's industry minister Claudio Scajola has called Kiev's actions unacceptable. The minister says that gas is being short-supplied to Italy because of Ukraine. The situation has been aggravated by severe frosts raging in the south of Europe.
According to the data of Russian "Gazprom" company, from Monday to Friday Ukraine illegally retrieved 400 million cubic meters of gas from the pipeline. "This is a very large volume that is comparable to, say, our three days' gas supply to Germany", said a company spokesman in an interview to Russian TV.
