Official Copenhagen has called on all Danes to immediately leave Syria after the Danish embassy in Syria was sacked and set ablaze.
Today many thousands of Syrians continued protesting against the publication of cartoons in the Danish and subsequently European press insulting the religious feelings of Moslems. The crowd stoned, stormed and then set on fire the buildings of the Danish and Norwegian embassies. The French embassy also came under attack.
Attempts by the Syrian police to hold back the crowd using sticks and water cannons brought success only in the case of the French embassy.
The Danish government is considering now what further political steps could be taken against Syria.
