In the south of the Philippines a raging crowd of radical Muslims burned a Danish national flag February 7. They were protesting against the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in the Danish press.
Hundreds of people had gathered at the central square of the city of Cotabato, at 900 km from the capital, Manila. They demanded that the Danish government take action against the periodical that first published the anti-Islamic cartoons. The protest action was reported to have ended peacefully, there were no clashes with the police.
