French weekly to print additional copies of issue featuring cartoons satirizing Prophet Muhammad
The editorial board of the French satirical weekly "Charlie Hebdo" has announced it would print additional copies of its latest issue featuring cartoons satirizing the Muslim Prophet Muhammad. The issue would continue on sale for another two weeks.
The decision was taken after the first batch of the issue had been completely sold out on February 8, as soon as it was out of print. 11 of the 16 pages of the magazine deal with the scandal over the cartoons. The weekly had reprinted all the 12 cartoons originally published last September in the Danish newspaper "Jullands Posten", arousing anger of Muslims across the world. The "Charlie Ebdo" had thrown in its own comments and satirical drawings of religious nature.
