Georgian parliament has approved a resolution "On the Situation in the Former South-Ossetian Autonomous Region and the Course of the Peacekeeping Process". The document gives a negative assessment of the performance by the peacekeeping force of its tasks under mandate in the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict zone. Moreover, the resolution has accused Russia of attempting "to annex that region of Georgia".
Georgian parliament has also directed the government to review the Sochi Agreements of June 24, 1992, and initiate replacement of the current peacekeeping contingent with "an effective international peacekeeping force".
Georgian MPs decided to work out, "together with international organizations and partner countries, a new peacekeeping format".
