The EU budget debt will reach one trillion euro next year and will be over 500% of the bloc’s budget, TASS reported citing President of the European Court of Auditors Tony Murphy.
The figure refers to the debt of the European Union as an organization and not to total debts of EU member-states.
"We’re looking at 1 trillion euro by the end of 2027. It’s a substantial amount," he said, cited by the news portal. Financial pressure on the EU budget is growing like in a "pressure cooker," TASS quoted Murphy as saying.
