Cockades with the double-headed eagle will cease to be part of servicemen's uniform, told journalist on Friday Lt.Gen. Sergei Shliayev, head of the Central Stores Directorate of Russia's Ministry of Defense.
"They have fulfilled their purpose and are no longer needed. As a result, the height of the peaked cap would go down by several centimeters", said S. Shliayev.
According to him, the decision to give up cockades with the double-headed eagle was made last December after the requisite approval by the heraldic service of the armed forces.
