Dozens of unemployed Georgian seamen took part in a protest action in front of the Georgian Steamship Line Office in Batumi, demanding jobs.
The protesters say that if their demands are not met, they will renounce their Georgian citizenship and seek political asylum in Russia.
The unemployed seamen say that they have been promised jobs for several months, but so far nothing has come out of these promises. If the problem of their employment is not resolved soon, the seamen will ask for assistance from the RF Embassy in Tbilisi.
