The Russian President's Experts Department Head, Arkadi Dvorkovich, said in a TV interview that, starting from 2006, the Inheritance Tax would be completely abolished in Russia.
"Within two or three weeks, the Duma will pass this bill, and starting from next year there will be no inheritance tax", he said. According to him, the volume and value of the inherited estate would not matter.
The Russian leadership is taking this step, said A. Dvorkovich, in order to stimulate the growth of citizens' wealth and the development of business.
"The main thing is for the people to become richer, not poorer", he stressed.
The idea of abolishing the Inheritance Tax had been put forward by Russian President Vladimir Putin in his recent annual address to the Federal Assembly.
