British ambassador to Russia Tony Brenton has said that if the Russian General Prosecutor's Office could present proof of Ahmed Zakayev's complicity in terrorism, the British side would immediately extradite him.

Having sent to London seven requests for the Chechen emissary's extradition, Russian General Prosecutor Viktor Ustinov says that in his view the Russian side has presented Britain with sufficient proof to have Zakayev extradited.

"What else conclusive proof can we present to prove his guilt or innocence?" said V. Ustinov.

A man has been presented to the London court who testified that Zakayev had shot off his fingers. A number of expert conclusions have also been presented. But the court decided that the proof was insufficient.

"What would be sufficient then? Would the court's attendance at the actual scene of atrocities be sufficient? I don't know what proof would be sufficient for them", said V. Ustinov, commenting on the court decision.
