Japanese parliament drew up a statement on the eve of the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War wherein it says that it "deeply regrets the suffering that our country's actions during a certain period in the past inflicted on the inhabitants of other Asian and other countries and pays a sincere tribute to the memory of all victims".
At the same time, as Japanese media notes, the draft statement makes no mention of the "aggression" and the Japanese "colonial order" established in the occupied countries during the Second World War. These terms had been central in the parliamentary statement issued in connection with the 50th anniversary of the Victory Day, note the media.
