Russian Minister of Defense Sergei Ivanov has withdrawn the accreditation with the MoD of the American TV channel ABC that broadcast an interview with Chechen terrorist Shamil Basayev. This is what S. Ivanov told journalists in Vladivostok on Sunday.
"Today I instructed the head of the Ministry's press service to prohibit all contacts of the Ministry's personnel with the American TV company ABC. We shall continue to be open for the press, but that channel will not be invited to come to the Ministry of Defense, no interview shall ever be given to it", said the Minister.
"ABC is persona non grata, from now on it is an outcast for the Ministry of Defense", he added.
Commenting on the showing of the Chechen terrorist on the American TV, the Minister said that he is "very indignant at that". "If one wants to express one's feelings toward it, one word would convey it, which is indignation", said the Minister.
