The prevailing skepticism towards the USA is highlighted by the fact that 59 percent of Europeans consider Washington's "strong leadership" undesirable.
The most critical towards the USA are the people of France, Italy and the Netherlands, while 55 percent of the respondents believe that the European Union should be more independent of the USA in its decisions and actions.
