In Sweden 20-30 thousand attempts are made every day to access internet sites with child pornography content. These data have been received by analyzing the work of special filters set up by providers in order to prevent access to tabooed sites.
Swedish daily "Svenska Dagbladet" reported on November 25, citing police information, that the filters set up last April in the course of a police campaign to fight the spread of child pornography, have made it possible to thwart 90 percent of attempts to access foreign sites with child pornography.
In Sweden itself, as in other Scandinavian countries, dissemination of materials with child pornography is a criminal offense. Sweden's population is about 8 million people.
