According to the Kremlin press service, V. Putin directed the Russian government to retouch and pass on to the State Duma a bill stipulating the transfer to a 12-month conscription service starting from January 1, 2008.
The bill would also stipulate changing or canceling a number of justification clauses for the adjournment of military service, as well as exemption from the conscription of those students who, in addition to their professional training, have had military training at the university military chair and graduated from the respective university.
