Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad has again surprised the world by his pronouncements concerning the state of Israel.

In an interview to one of Arab TV channels he proposed that Germany and Austria surrender part of their territories in favor of creating a Jewish state, as they think themselves responsible for the mass killings of Jews during the Second World War.

"If you claim that Jews were oppressed, why do Palestine Muslims have to pay for it?" asks Ahmadi-Nejad. "Good, you oppressed them, so why don't you provide the Zionist regime with a piece of Europe, so that it could set up a government to its liking there, and we shall support it".

"Let Germany and Austria provide two or three provinces for the Zionist regime, and the issue will be resolved", emphasized Iran's President.

The new anti-Israeli statement by Iran's President has caused varying reactions in the world. Israel's Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom quickly condemned Ahmadi-Nejad's initiative. Speaking at a joint press conference, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Jacques Chirac called these pronouncements "unacceptable and outrageous". UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan said he was shocked by Iranian Presidents words.
