Vladimir Putin said that Russia is a consistent and firm defender of Islam. As has been reported, today the Russian President suddenly flew in the Chechen capital to attend the first session of the Chechen parliament elected at the end of November.
"I would like to remind the opposite side, those who claim to hold dear Islam, that the Russian Federation has always been the most consistent, true and firm defender of Islam, which is a religion of peace", said V. Putin, adding that "Russia has always been and still remains the best partner of Islamic states".
The President reminded that the Russian delegation had taken an active part in the recent meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference in Saudi Arabia.
