Viktor Yanukovich, ex-candidate for Ukrainian presidency, who lost in the third round of presidential election, was absent from the official inauguration of Viktor Yushchenko as Ukraine's new President.
Mrs. Raisa Bogatyriova, head of the parliamentary faction of Ukraine's Regions Party, told the press that Yanukovich had gone on a few days' leave. She did not specify in what country Ukraine's former prime minister was taking a rest at the moment.
Regarding Yanukovich's visit abroad, Mrs. Bogatyriova explained that the invitation for Yanukovich to come to the inauguration ceremony of his former rival had come too late. The invitation, she said, had come only on Saturday night.
