The Ukrainian government has deprived ex-president Leonid Kuchma of some privileges. Saturday the new cabinet cancelled the relevant decree issued by its predecessor.
By its decree of past January 19, the previous government headed by acting premier Nikolai Azarov granted the ex-president life annuity and state-paid services of two aides, a councilor and several bodyguards.
In addition, Leonid Kuchma received for a life-long use a state-paid country house, two personal cars and four drivers.
Immediately after assuming office, the new Ukrainian PM Yulia Timoshenko brought up the question of canceling the privileges bestowed on the former head of state. The cabinet was quick to pass from word to deed.
