Mayor of New York Michael Blumberg said that security precautions have been reinforced in the metropolitan subway. The measures were taken in connection with the receipt of information about impending terrorist attacks in the subway.
M. Blumberg specially noted "the veracity" of the information received. According to the information, terrorists were planning a whole series of attacks in the New York subway.
A source said that the explosives might be concealed in a pram. Also, there is information that 19 Iraqi natives may commit acts of terror using chemical weapons.
Police patrols have been reinforced in the subway, making random searches of passengers entering the subway.
