US President George Bush's popularity continues to drop. This has been evidenced by the latest opinion poll conducted the "Washington Post" daily and the "ABC" TV company. According to the data published yesterday, now only 39 percent of Americans support G. Bush (42 percent in September). 58 percent of the voters are dissatisfied with the President's policies.
The drop in the popularity of the Bush administration has been caused mainly by the latest scandals in the White House. Last Friday the federal grand jury finished its probe into the leak of secret information from the White House. The case involves a disclosure, by high-ranking Bush administration officials, of the identity of a CIA agent with a view to compromise the opponents of the Iraq war. Also on Friday the chairman of the grand jury Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald charged Lewis Libby, Vice-President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, with obstruction of justice and making false statements. L. Libby immediately resigned.
